The Necessity of Taking A Multivitamins
My younger sibling asked me if it is really needed to take multiple vitamins. As for me, taking multivitamins is necessary only if you cannot meet the “grow”, “glow” and “go” food groups that your body is needing and if the food you eat is somewhat routine, no variation at all. Those people who has no time to cook and those that are transient who just buy food from nearest restaurants, those that solely depend on the available of food on the restaurant really need to take supplements, I said.
Of course, aside from essential nutrients, we also need antioxidants to fight and sweep away toxins away from our system. Who among us could accomplish eating at least five servings of variety of fruits and vegetables everyday? That is another reason why it has been a necessity to take multivitamins since lots of people are always on the go and prefer to eat food that are easy to prepare, does not require lots of time preparing for it, and could be stock on the kitchen for long period of time without being ruined. Antioxidants and other essential elements could only be found in fresh foods, thus, to compensate for this need people take multivitamins.
It is weekend and we all have time to prepare freshly extracted juice from fruits and vegetables and cook wholesome food. We already discussed about harmful effects of too much of good things, thus, my sister now fully understood when she will take her multivitamin supplement and when not to.
The Importance of Multivitamins and Minerals
Taking multivitamins and minerals as nutritional assurance that you have all the necessary nutrients is a good habit.
Good nutrition is essential to good health. Nowadays, people are mostly on the go and usually fed themselves with instant foods and less of unprocessed one, especially fruits and vegetables, do you think they have regular balanced diet? I agree that multivitamins and minerals should not be treated as substitute of eating a regular balanced diet but it is an excellent help to people who are always on the go. Multivitamins and minerals is a great help especially for those who are in reducing diet, and those who are picky eaters, athletes, pregnant women, nursing mothers, teenagers (growing years), smokers and heavy drinkers not to be deficient from certain essential vitamins and minerals.
Me and my siblings prefer to take one tablet a day of centrum multivitamins as our nutritional supplement after eating a meal. How about you? Better check the label of your multivitamins for you know that you are taking the right one. Your multivitamins should contain essential nutrients needed by your body. Remember that the main reason why you are taking multivitamins is for you to be protected against vitamin and, or mineral deficiency that could put you at risk to certain ailment like anemia due to vitamin B12 deficiency. So, taking a pill of multivitamins like centrum everyday as your nutritional supplement to your regular diet is really a great help for you to attain wellness.
Womens vitamins are so essential because women has special nutritional needs. They tend to loss some minerals during menstrual periods, they have special needs of certain essential nutrients too during pregnancy and lactating stage not just for their own health but for their baby as well. How Important is Folic Acid to Your Health?
How important is Folic Acid to your health? For healthy individuals like me, folic acid or folate is beneficial in preventing your body from certain cancers, anemia and cardiovascular diseases. For pregnant women, it plays a big role in the development of the fetus, folic acid or folate fights birth defects like neural tube defects.
Folic Acid or folate is another B vitamin. Kids who prefer to satisfy their hunger with fast foods and junk foods that are devoid of essential nutrients, alcoholics, pregnant or nursing women, dieters, women who are taking oral contraceptives, those who have intestinal problems that may cause hindrance in absorption of folic acid, those who are receiving kidney dialysis and those who are taking medications such as cholesterol lowering drugs, sulfasalaline and aspirin and other anti-inflammatory drugs are people who are at risk for folic acid or folate deficiency.
If you belong to the at risk of folic acid or folate deficiency group and you feel fatigue, forgetfulness, confusion, irritability and you observe paleness of your skin, reddened tongue or your suffering from anemia better consult your doctor. It would be best if you will undergo a laboratory test for folic acid deficiency.
Wheat germ, orange and orange juices, liver, eggs, milk, green leafy vegetables, lima beans and navy beans are great sources of folic acid or folate. Supplements are good but better take it as part of multivitamins because large doses of folic acid or folate could interfere the functioning of vitamin B12 or cobalamin.
