Who wants to know some habits that may cause liver damage? Just this morning, I received a message from a friend enumerating some habits that may trigger liver damage. I want to share it to you too for you to be aware and act on those habits.
Did you know that the habit of sleeping too late or short range sleeping time could trigger liver damage by accumulating toxic substances that may cause liver disease? It is because detoxification process takes place during the time of deep sleep.
The habit of not urinating upon waking from a long time sleep may not only cause kidney disease like stone formation and bacterial infection but liver damage as well. The first urine upon waking up (First Morning Urine) is the most concentrated urine of the day. It just does mean that it is full of toxic substances and other waste products of our body. If this accumulated urine are not excreted the tendency of it is it is reabsorbed back by the body. And, as we all know detoxification process takes place in the liver that is why it is affected.
The habit of too much eating could also cause liver damage especially if most of what you consume are fatty foods, and skipping breakfast could also trigger liver damage, why? Liver has an important role in storage of carbohydrates and fats in our body. As we all know, liver has lots of function aside from this, too much eating could overworked your liver.
The habit of consuming too much medication obviously could lead to liver damage because liver filters everything. Too much of drugs, though considered as non-toxic, could do harm to our body especially the liver.
Things that are added to the natural food for it to look good, taste better or last long like food coloring, preservatives and additives has side effects that could harm not just your liver but your whole body.
The habit of taking overly done foods and unhealthy oils could also overwork your liver thus, you need to eat more of plant foods that are as natural as possible, as much as possible it should be eaten raw.
The habits of consuming alcohol, smoking and taking abusive drugs are the most notorious habits that lead to liver damage.
Love your liver by stop doing those bad habits. You could stay away from liver diseases and liver damage, even cancer by breaking those habits.
Iron Supplements and Iron Deficiency Anemia
You and your family are taking iron supplements? Did you know that too much iron in your body is harmful? Yes, our body needs iron, it is important for red blood cell production but too much of it is harmful to the body. There is a theory that extra stored iron in your body release harmful free radicals that may put you to risk for heart problems, liver damage, cancer, iron overdose in children and other illnesses. Medically speaking when there is an excessive amount of iron accumulated in the blood and tissues is is called hemosiderosis if the accumulated iron in the macrophages causes parenchymal cell injury. If the extra iron accumulates in the parenchymal cells and injures the tissue it is called hemochromatosis.
Because of iron side effects, most doctors agree that it is not necessary to take iron supplements unless your blood test shows that you need it. If the person is anemic, with low hemoglobin and, or hematocrit level in the blood, it does not mean automatically that he is suffering from iron deficiency and need to take iron supplements, always bear in mind that anemia has lots of causes and iron deficiency is just one of them. To confirm that the person is suffering from iron deficiency, the person will undergo a special laboratory test called serum ferritin test.
Again, taking iron supplements are not recommended unless prescribed by your doctor. If you want to make sure that your family family is getting enough iron for their body needsgo for good food sources of iron. Fish, poultry, red meat, shellfish, tofu, potatos, peas, beans, pumpkin seeds and dried apricots are rich in iron, some cereals and other processed foods are fortified with iron too thus, you need not to take iron supplements unless prescribed by your physician.
