Healthy Diet Tips In Celebrating The Holiday Season
Some practical healthy diet tips in celebrating the holiday season is my Christmas gift to all of you because lots of people are more prone to diseases during and after holiday season due to weak immune system because of simply forgetting to eat what their body needs. How come? Most of the people eat lots of foods, particularly sweet ones and those that are made from processed ingredients as well.
When I was young, my mom always remind me and my siblings not to take in so much of sweet food and drinks to avoid tonsillitis. And, to drink plenty of water after we eat or drink something sweet. It has been a big “why” to me that time but now I realized that she has a point. Too much sweets could weaken the immune system’s activity. Our tonsils are the first line of defense that control the entrance of army of germs. When we take in too much of sweet food and, or drinks, it overworks the tonsils causing them to be inflamed.
I noticed that during Christmas season most people fail to eat vegetables which is so important to our health. Thus, I want to share to you a great combination of fresh vegetable juices that are not just palatable to taste but best to the immune system and health in general. You must not add sugar or any kind of sweetener and milk to it. For every 10 oz of freshly extracted carrot juice, you just need to add 3 oz of extracted beet juice and 3 oz of cucumber juice. So simple to prepare, right?
Following a healthy lifestyle is the best way to attain wellness. It does not mean that because you are health conscious person you can no longer celebrate the holiday season with gladness through gatherings with friends and loved ones. Instead of preparing sweet and processed foods, why not shift to healthy ones? Lessen some sweet foods and drinks, and serve more of fresh fruits and extracted fruits or vegetable juices instead. Fresh fruits and vegetables boosts the immune system rather than suppressing it. If you are the one who is invited, better choose the food to eat and remember to drink lots of plain water after.
Basic Things To Know About Psoariasis
Psoariasis is a chronic(long term), noncontagious skin condition that may affect the skin, joints and even the eyes. Person with psoariasis experiences a rapid skin cell production that looks like raised, red, rough, dry patches which are called plaques that could affect in any part of the skin but commonly affected areas are scalp, elbows and knees.
The exact cause of psoariasis is still unknown but genetics plays a big role to it. Though it is a long term skin condition, it has a variable course. There are times that psoariasis may clear for years. It is believed that environment and body metabolism, especially on disorder of immune system could greatly trigger or ’switch on’ its occurrence. Stress, obesity, infections, climate change, alcohol intake and smoking are the best examples of the environmental and metabolic factors that triggers or worsen psoariasis.
I have former colleague who is suffering from psoariasis. He usually use the greasiest moisturizer every after shower or bathing. Virgin coconut oil, petroleum jelly, or lactic acid are the best examples of such moisturizers. He prefer to use virgin coconut oil as moisturizer.
Other home remedies for psoariasis are Aloe Vera and apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar could help by applying it directly to the affected area as disinfectant or by adding it to your bath. Aloe Vera gel or extract could bring relief too by applying it directly to affected area.
Eat Small Meals Only
My wise mom says it is better to eat many times of the day with small meals than twice or thrice a day but overloading your stomach. She usually say that when our appetite is great because of palatable viand. When you overload your stomach, the ratio between the food and the enzymes that are responsible for the breakdown of food is not balanced especially those that breaks down proteins. Your liver is affected as well not just your digestive system.
Liver is responsible in detoxification as well as storage of fats and glucose. It cannot handle well an overabundance of food at one time. Immune system could be depressed as well when liver is affected, not just the liver itself. So, if you love your health, better eat small meals at a time.
How to Avoid from Acquiring Vaginitis
Vaginitis is an infection or inflammation of vulva-vaginal area. What causes vaginitis? Normally, genito-urinary system are thrived by microorganisms, change in pH (acidity or alkalinity) may cause these microorganisms of normal flora to become infectious. Aside from that, vaginitis could also be caused by germs transferred from rectum or carried by male sexual partner and been transmitted through sexual contact. Low immune system due to lack of sleep, stress and poor diet may also trigger vaginitis. What are the symptoms of vaginitis? Itching or burning sensation of vulva, abnormal discharge and desire to void frequently are the usual symptoms.
How can you avoid vaginitis? As they say, “cleanliness is next to Godliness”, we need to be clean always. Try to use non-soap cleansers in washing the vaginal area and avoid use of other people’s towel. Spray, soaps, and talcum powder is not necessary, better eradicate it because it could only trigger vaginosis due to change in pH of the vaginal area. Wear cotton underpants to allow air circulation not those that are made of synthetic material because it could retain moisture that may enhance multiplication of microorganisms on vaginal area. Too tight pants is not good too. Coffee, alcohol, sugar and refined carbohydrates has great effect on vaginal pH too so better have limitation on taking these foods.
Boost your immune system and maintain cleanliness, these are the keys to fight against vaginosis. Douch is also good when it is done occassionally to thoroughly clean the vaginal area.
Strengthen Your Immune System
Be aware! Strengthen your immune system. You might be transmitted by non-seasonal viral or bacterial infection like respiratory tract infections such as tonsillitis, bronchitis and pneumonia. Its manifestations? Cough, colds, sore throat, mucous production and fever. You can get those respiratory tract infections through droplet inhalation like Influenza A (H1N1).
If you suffered the symptoms I mentioned above, you need to rest, a bed rest, and increase your fluid intake. Mucolytic, decongestant and paracetamol medications are sometimes necessary for you to feel better. And, doctor may prescribe you an antibiotic in case you are suffering from bacterial infection. So, if symptoms persist after 24 hours of rest, better go to your doctor.
They say that prevention is better than cure. And, how can you prevent from getting infected from respiratory tract infections and other illnesses? Strengthen your immune system by taking nutritious foods, particularly plant foods such as fruits and vegetables. Having time for exercise everyday and good night sleep matters too in strengthening your immune system. And, as much as possible avoid crowded places.
