A Fight Against Childhood Obesity

Childhood obesity problem is rising. More and more children are suffering from it. Obesity could not just result to bullying at school because of not usual size of the child but also of health problems.

Some people throw this issue to food chains and junk food companies. Can we solely blame them? Parents should be responsible enough of the quality and quantity of food they are giving to their kids, right? They are the direct handlers of their kids and have the authority to tame their taste buds while kids are still young.

Excess weight could result to acquired diabetes (Type II Diabetes), high cholesterol level, hypertension and cancer. Obesity could also lead to low self-esteem and depression. Parents, is it fine with you that your children suffer all these things on their young age? If not, better give what is healthy and best for them. It does not mean that it is good you can give more of it because your child wants it. You also need to teach them about discipline. Always be aware of the quality and quantity of the food you give.

Physical activities should be promoted, your child need to move a lot to be physically healthy. Providing a computer with internet and lots of games to choose from, and a cabled television set for your children to stay at home is fine but they should need to have time for their studies and physical activities as well. Let them be involved in sports at school that suites to their age if they want. Providing a space in your yard for them to play like basketball, table tennis, badminton, and other sports that do not require a lot of space but could make them move a lot is great. Taking them to park for a walk or jog with you as form of exercise, or let them play with kids of their age are also great ideas for them to stay fit.

Healthy lifestyle is not just for adults but for everybody. Let us not allow unhealthy condition like obesity to threaten our family health. Let us all live a healthy lifestyle.

Why Men Should be More Health Conscious

Though women could wear men’s wear including mens ties you will still note the difference in gender. It is not just the clothes that you can see the difference between men and women but in total health as well.

Let us take cardiovascular problems as an example. It has been noted by experts that heart disease and high blood pressure is more prevailing in men than woman. And, most of men who suffer from heart problems are of hereditary cause (there is a history in the family). Of course, living an unhealthy lifestyle could trigger health problems and is a big factor why we suffer from illnesses.

Living a healthy lifestyle could help all of us to stay healthy. Men are more prone to adopt bad habits like smoking and drinking alcoholic drinks compared to women. It would be best that men engage themselves in sports or in taking time for physical exercise as their past time than engaging in drinking sessions with their friends. Consulting a doctor about general health status is necessary before engaging to any strenuous physical activities.

What we do not eat or drink and what we eat and drink matters a lot. Balanced diet of nutritious food is very much necessary in maintaining good health. Women are more conscious in eating a healthy meal than men. Processed and canned foods are men’s favorite stocks in the kitchen rather than plant foods that requires a lot of time in preparation. As we all know these are unhealthy foods. Fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains that are not processed are what our body needs regardless of our gender.

Men have unique health problems too. Their usual health problems are connected to erectile dysfunction, prostate and testicles. Health awareness like taking time for self examination and visiting a physician for check up and advice) and living a healthy lifestyle could help them enjoy life free from illnesses.

We may accept it or not, mental performance decline as we age. But, it does not mean that we have no control of our aging process, it is just a matter of choice. You can hasten your aging process if you want by taking drugs, drinking alcoholic drinks, smoking, and other unhealthy practices. Right diet is part of healthy lifestyle. What we eat plays a great role in how our body function. How to Fight Unhealthy Aging

Almost all adults loves to look young, face cream and other beauty products helps a lot in making skin soft and smooth thus looking younger. Unhealthy aging… can we do something to protect ourselves from aging aside from applying beauty products? Yes we can!

Be more organized and conscientious too, as being organized will lead you to less stress situation.

Healthy lifestyle does not just include right diet, exercise, optimism and being organized but lots of other important ways as well. Staying away from harmful vices; enough sleep; having time to relax (ex. meditation, yoga);  exposure to early morning sunlight; drinking 8-12 glasses of water daily; taking time to interact with other people; acknowledge all the blessings you received; having hope; and having faith in God are part of healthy lifestyle too.

Being In Tune With Surroundings

Taking time to relax in an outdoor furniture placed on patio could make you feel in tune with your surroundings while having the comfort of your own home. I myself love to relax like that while waiting for the sun to come out from the East with background of birds singing, declaring another morning has come and another chance to learn about life through experiences and taking time to interact with other people.

Living a healthy lifestyle does not just focus on self, on how you feel good and look better, but being in tune with surroundings as well especially with people you interact with. Through interaction and sharing who we are we build solid social ties that give us emotional benefits in times of stress or an emotional buffer against stressful events, and celebrate with us in times of joy. As they say, “No man is an island”. No matter how financially rich you are you will feel emptiness and as if incomplete if you do not take time to interact with other people because by nature humans are social beings.

Parent and child relationship is the most important social relationship that needs to be strengthened first for kids to interact well with other people. Parent should take time to have quality time with their kids, to guide them on how to interact well with their playmates and to community as a whole, and be a good model to their kids through their actions.

With parents’ guidance and modeling on how to interact with other people, it is as if a child is relaxing on a patio, experiencing the comfort of her own home while being in tune with her surroundings. Time will come that kids will explore the world by themselves, they may be aware or not they will carry and is carrying with them the lessons they will learn and have learned from their own home on how to behave as social being.
