Diet Pills and My Sister
In the past few weeks I have been talking a lot about my younger sister who is checking out some diet pills because she wants to lose weight after giving birth. In fairness to the diet pill she is taking she lost few pounds now. But, I take some credits too to her daily exercise and good nutrition, that are mostly raw vegetables and fruits.
Hope she will continue her right diet and daily exercise after she got her desired weight. Diet pills helps a lot in losing some weight but she really need to control her food intake for her to maintain the right weight and not be lazy on moving her body for her daily exercise. I am happy that at least she is now on the right tract to healthy living.

A healthy diet is composed of proper amounts of carbohydrates, protein and fats from proper sources. It is low in sugar, salt and fat; as much as possible caffeine is avoided and no alcohol.
Nowadays, many of us are taking lots of fats, salt and sugar compared to what our body is needing. Most of it are hidden in processed foods. When you eliminate or greatly reduce processed foods from your diet, it will produce a greatest impact to your health. Processed foods are foods we usually buy that are sweetened, fried, ground, preserved, hydrogenated or bleached. These foods that are refined or treated and are so far withdrawn from their natural state.

Greater energy, restful sleep, fewer digestive problems, lower body fats, better looking skin and hair are just some of the benefits you can get from eating a nutrient-rich diet. Just start putting the right food in your stomach and it will start to show good things on the outside.
Vitamins That Can Reduce Cancer Risk

fruits and vegetables
Following a healthy lifestyle is the best anti-cancer reducer. For you to be more spirited to practice a healthy lifestyle, following a good nutrition habit in particular. I want to share to you some of the vitamins that helps reduce cancer risk. Vitamins that you can get from the food you eat.
NOTE: It is encouraged that you get these vitamins from the food you eat, especially from fruits and vegetables, rather than from vitamin pill or food supplements.
VITAMIN A and BETA CAROTENE has been found to reduce the risk of cancer epithelial tissues such as skin, cervix, uterine, larynx as well as lungs, gallbladder, urinary bladder, some gastrointestinal and some breast cancers.
Beta carotene is a vitamin A precursor. It is the effective ingredient in risk reduction rather than vitamin A, although a few studies shows that Vitamin A effectively reduces cancer risk.
“Beta-carotene traps free radicals, and a few studies in animals suggest that it may also reduce tumor development.” (Menkes)
“Observational epidemiological studies have consistently shown that a diet rich in beta-carotene-rich fruits and vegetables or high blood levels of beta-carotene are associated with a reduced risk of cancer at several common sites, such as lung and stomach.” (van Poppel)
We can obtain preformed vitamin A only in milk, egg yolk, liver and other animal products such as butter, cheese, and fish-liver oil.
Beta carotene could be taken from food such as carrots, papaya, mangoes, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, squash and dark green leafy vegetables.
Among smokers, some studies shows that the beta-carotene supplements increased the incidence of serious diseases. Supplements do not produce the same beneficial results seen with vegetables and fruits, probably because of currently unknown interactions with other helpful ingredients.” (Cassileth)
VITAMIN C is thought to reduce the risk of esophangeal and stomach cancers.
A recent study conducted by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) found that high concentrations of vitamin C (achieved by I.V. doses similar to those used by Klenner) had anticancer effects in 75 percent of the tested cancer cell lines. Non-cancerous cells were unaffected. Tumor weight was reduced by 41-53 percent in animals with advanced cancer.
Sources of vitamin C include citrus fruits, fresh strawberries, cantaloupe, pineapple, and guava. Good vegetable sources are broccoli, brussels sprouts, tomatoes, spinach, kale, green peppers, cabbage, and turnips.
VITAMIN D is also known as the sunshine vitamin. Vitamin D is formed in the skin of animals and humans by the action of ultraviolet-B in particular. It is manufactured in the body when sterols, which are commonly found in many foods, migrate to the skin and become irradiated. These precursors of vitamin D in the skin are converted into cholecalciferol, a weak form of vitamin D3, which is then transported to the liver and kidneys where enzymes convert it to 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol, the more potent form of vitamin D3.
Some study shows that people with lung and colorectal cancer are Vitamin D deficient. There is also a growing evidence of linkage between vitamin D and reducing the risk of prostate cancer. Researchers at the Moores Cancer Center at University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine have shown a clear association between deficiency in exposure to sunlight, specifically ultraviolet B (UVB), and breast cancer. And it has been found that the women who took Vitamin D also had fewer cancers.
Vitamin D is a bit of a rare vitamin. Aside from exposure to sunlight, vitamin D3 is also available through supplements and in diets, appearing only foods such as fatty fish, cod liver oil and egg yolks.
TOO MUCH of good things can be harmful too. Her are some of it’s effects:
Excess vitamin A can interfere with growth, stop menstruation, damage red blood corpuscles, and cause skin rashes, headaches, nausea, and jaundice.
Large and prolonged doses of vitamin C can result in the formation of bladder and kidney stones, interference with the effects of blood-thinning drugs, destruction of B12, and the loss of calcium from bones.
Excessive sun exposure may cause skin cancer and because vitamin D is fat-soluble and stored in the body, excessive consumption can cause vitamin poisoning, kidney damage, lethargy, and loss of appetite.
Note to the readers: Through comment section, you are free to add other vitamins that was not mentioned here.
