Elliptical and, or treadmill workouts seems boring to do sometimes especially if there is no video or music that could stimulate you to go on, right? When this happen, I just concentrate myself on counting but it would be best if there is a music or video that could encourage me.  With it, my energy to move my body would be much higher. I am a health worker. A health advocate by heart. I am happy and very much willing to help people to know things about the importance of having good health, the advantages of practicing healthy lifestyle, and other issues in relation to health and wellness. I may not be as eloquent compared to other health advocates but I am a health advocate by heart, have a burden to reach out other people in  my own simple ways.

I am a health worker. A Registered Medical Technologist by profession. From 2001 to 2006 I worked in a research field and now am currently working in one of the government hospital laboratories in the Philippines.

What is the role of a Medical Technologist in a health care process? In a timely manner, we provide accurate laboratory results, an important information, that helps the physician in confirming diagnosis, monitor treatments, in study of diseases of their patients, and in the promotion of health in general.

For me to be accurate what the functions of a Medical Technologist are, these are the following:

1.    Examination of tissues, secretions and excretions of the human body and body fluids by various electronic, chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic, hematologic, serologic, immunologic, nuclear, and other laboratory procedures and techniques either manual or automated;
2.    Blood banking procedures and techniques; 3. Parasitologic, Mycologic and Microbiologic procedures and techniques;
3.    Histopathologic and Cytotechnology; provided that nothing in this paragraph shall inhibit a duly registered medical laboratory technician from performing histopathologic techniques and procedures.
4.    Clinical research involving patients or human beings requiring the use of and/or application of medical technology knowledge and procedures;
5.    Preparations and standardization of reagents, standards, stains and others, provided such reagents, standards, stains and others are exclusively for the use of their laboratory;
6.    Clinical laboratory quality control;
7.    Collection and preservation of specimens
A person who engages in the work of medical technology under the supervision of a pathologist or licensed physician authorized by the Department of Health in places where there is no pathologist and who having passed the prescribed course (Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Bachelor of Science in Hygiene) of training and examination is registered under the provision of this Act.
