A Fight Against Childhood Obesity
Childhood obesity problem is rising. More and more children are suffering from it. Obesity could not just result to bullying at school because of not usual size of the child but also of health problems.
Some people throw this issue to food chains and junk food companies. Can we solely blame them? Parents should be responsible enough of the quality and quantity of food they are giving to their kids, right? They are the direct handlers of their kids and have the authority to tame their taste buds while kids are still young.
Excess weight could result to acquired diabetes (Type II Diabetes), high cholesterol level, hypertension and cancer. Obesity could also lead to low self-esteem and depression. Parents, is it fine with you that your children suffer all these things on their young age? If not, better give what is healthy and best for them. It does not mean that it is good you can give more of it because your child wants it. You also need to teach them about discipline. Always be aware of the quality and quantity of the food you give.
Physical activities should be promoted, your child need to move a lot to be physically healthy. Providing a computer with internet and lots of games to choose from, and a cabled television set for your children to stay at home is fine but they should need to have time for their studies and physical activities as well. Let them be involved in sports at school that suites to their age if they want. Providing a space in your yard for them to play like basketball, table tennis, badminton, and other sports that do not require a lot of space but could make them move a lot is great. Taking them to park for a walk or jog with you as form of exercise, or let them play with kids of their age are also great ideas for them to stay fit.
Healthy lifestyle is not just for adults but for everybody. Let us not allow unhealthy condition like obesity to threaten our family health. Let us all live a healthy lifestyle.
Be Determined to Get Rid of Belly Fat
Getting rid of belly fat is not easy but we need to be persistent. I myself am striving to flatten my stomach. I take time to exercise almost every day for health reason but not to shape up. I noticed that as we are getting older, we are prone to accumulate fat in our stomach. Of course, lifestyle, especially diet and physical activities matters a lot too.
Though I take time to move and stretch my body for health reason, I never take time to exercise my abdominal area since I undergo appendicitis operation way back my early twenties. My work now just requires me to sit on the chair most of the time. I could say that those factors counted a lot plus the fact that I am not getting any younger.
People at work just laugh at me as I told them that I want to get rid of my belly fat because as for them I am still in good shape compared to them, and it is not noticeable yet. Why? When is the right time to get rid of it, if my visceral fats could choke my internal organs and I am suffering from an illness because of it?
Nowadays, that there are lots of yummy foods coming out in the market to satisfy our cravings plus the automation that do not require us to be physically involved at work, we all have the tendency to harbor unwanted belly fat. Most people do not change their lifestyle or even have a temperance of what they eat until their doctor declares it to them.
As for other people who are not health conscious, for them having belly fat is a sign of prosperity not knowing that it is a signal that you need to be more cautious with your health. High blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and diabetes are just some of the outcomes of harboring belly fat because of high cholesterol level, particularly bad cholesterol. Cancer is the worst disease we could acquire in harboring belly fat that why we need to be determined to get rid of it.
A Preventable Cancer Called Mesothelioma
Having an asbestos mesothelioma could be frustrating not just because it a type of cancer disease but because this type of cancer is preventable. The sad fact of it is that many manufacturing companies of asbestos-containing products are aware of the hazardous effects of asbestos that’s why anyone who suffers from asbestos mesothelioma has the right to file a legal action against the concerned manufacturing company.
Asbestos mesothelioma could be acquired through direct exposure on the job, if you are living near the manufacturing company of asbestos-containing products, or has a household member who works in manufacturing company of asbestos-containing products. It takes years before signs and symptoms of asbestos mesothelioma could be detected. And, sad to say, reports shows that cases of mesothelioma is increasing.
Health Benefits of Spinach
As one of my friends paid visit to our humble home, she noticed the green leafy plant on our yard that most people treat as unwanted plant. She said, “Convince me, how essential that plant is to our health and site some of its advantages why you guys grow it in your yard.” Of course, she does not know yet that time that the plant she was pointing at is the powerful spinach plant.
I really love to eat green leafy vegetables and spinach is one of my favorites. We grow spinach in our yard so as some of vegetables that do not take large space to grow. As for those who do not know its nutrient dense value, spinach plant is just one of wild plants that manage to survive on its own in our front yard because they easily grow like other unwanted grasses. Me and my friends use its leaves as our “sipa” for our playtime during our childhood days. But, to those who know the health benefits of spinach, they are so precious. In fact, my mom not just waters those precious plants we grow in our yard but cultivate and take care of it.
Who could not remember cartoon character Popeye the sailor man? By consuming spinach, old Popeye could transform himself to a super strong man. We may not feel literally strong like Popeye after we consume spinach, but if you’ll know that it is rich in vitamins (A, B, C, E, K), minerals (calcium, manganese, magnesium, iron, potassium, phosphorus, zinc, copper), fibers and protein you will feel the energy Popeye has experienced upon consuming it, right?
It is not just because of the essential nutrients that spinach could boost good health but its phytochemical contents to that could give us protection against heart disease, arthritis, osteoporosis, skin cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, almost all kinds of cancer and other diseases. Flavanoid contents of spinach could protect us against memory loss and any type of cancer, while its lutein content could promote good eyesight and protect us against cataract and Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD).
Consuming more or less half kilo of spinach a day could produce satiety advantage thus promoting weight loss and talkyloid content in spinach is responsible for this. It may sound not possible for you to consume that much of spinach daily for you to lose weight but incorporating spinach as much as you can and take it raw as much as possible could help, right?
Spinach is so easy to grow, it is wide in distribution. Growing spinach on your yard could not eat much of your time. So, why not let the small space in your yard stays vacant if you can grow a power-boosting plant like spinach? If you have no space to grow or no time to take care a plant, it is very affordable in the market.
Why We Need to Trim Down Excess Body Fat
I shared about a great combination to lose unwanted body fat in one of my posts today. One of my friends shared to me about apidexin, a fat loss pill that could be added up to that combination. To Mina, thanks a lot for sharing your thought.
Why we need to trim down our body fat deposits? What are its harmful effects to our body? Excess fat deposits in our body are tied up to serious physical threats like cancer, heart diseases and diabetes.
Lifestyle is a great factor why lots of people harbor excess fats on their body. Physical inactivity, choice of food, and vices like smoking and drinking alcoholic drinks are the major causes of it.
If lifestyle has been the great culprit, changing it could help a lot for you to reduce your excess body fats. Reducing your body fats will not reduce risk for you to acquire different diseases but more confidence on yourself as well.
Following healthy lifestyle like regular exercise, having the right diet (low fat), staying away from smoking and drinking alcohol habits, learning to handle daily stress in life, having time for relaxation and meditation, enough sleep, and optimism definitely you’ll attain your desired weight and normal body fat level.
Why We Need to Stay Away from Saturated Fats?
Too much eating of food rich in saturated fats could put you at risk for colorectal cancer. This kind of cancer grow silently and symptomless either in last 5-6 inches of your intestine or the last 8 inches of your digestive tract. Though colorectal cancer is deadly serious, it is preventable.
Healthy lifestyle is the key to prevent colorectal cancer. Proper diet, exercise, rest, optimism (to avoid accumulation of stress) and temperance are the most important aspects in healthy lifestyle that could protect us from acquiring colorectal cancer.
Diet plays the biggest role in acquiring colorectal cancer. Red meat? Lots of people love it. It is a source of protein but it is rich in saturated fats too. Why not limit high fatty foods especially red meat from your diet? Since fruits, vegetbles and fibers are gastrointestinal tract friendly foods, why not take most of it instead of fatty foods? Folic acid could lower the risk of colorectal cancer thus taking food rich on it is so beneficial.
Lack of exercise (especially those who are overweight) could put you at risk of colorectal cancer. Having time for exercise even at least 30 minutes everyday could lower your risk from acquiring it. Walking with your dog at the park, jogging, or playing some sports with your family or friends will not just keep you away from colorectal cancer but could also activate your happy hormones and lessen or totally eradicate stress you face everyday.
Vices like drinking alcoholic drinks and smoking could make you at risk on colorectal cancer. Alcohol could lower your body’s folic acid level while smoking could promote cell change in your body. Why stick to having some vices that could not just put you at risk to lots of diseases and eat up your budget?
Undergoing some screening tests could help us know our physical health status. Blood Tests, Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) and Digital Rectal Exam are so simple tests but help a lot in detecting colorectal cancer. Some screening tests for colorectal cancer are sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and double contrast barium enema.
Beating Breast Cancer in Digital Way
Breast cancer should not be taken lightly especially those at a higher risk for breast cancer. It is recommended by experts that women above 40 of age to undergo screening procedures for breast cancer every one to two years. And, monthly breast self-exams to the younger ones.
Mammogram procedure’s positioning and compression of your breast are the same for both traditional film and digital mammography. But, with digital mammography, instead of x-ray film, solid-state detectors that x-rays into electric signals are used. It is like you have been taken pictures using digital camera that could be zoom, etc by the radiologist as he study the pictures on the computer compared to those that are taken using films. Thus, it gives great advantage to women because it reduces mammogram callbacks and stress on patients while undergoing the procedure.
Not only that, digital mammography uses 22 percent less radiation compared to traditional film mammography thus reducing your exposure to x-rays. Digital mammography could also better detect cancer cells in women with dense breasts and those who are under 50 years of age who were at pre- or peri-menopausal stage.
Women should have mammography exam while their breast tissues are least tender, that typically falls one week after monthly period. It has been reported that taking vitamin E and cutting off caffeinated drinks several weeks prior to mammography viewer exam results to less discomfort during the procedure.
Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and those with breast implants should inform the technician who will do the procedure prior to examination.
Health Benefits of Fish Oil
I love to eat oily fishes since childhood days. Tuna, salmon and mackerel are just some of my favorites. It tastes so favorably on my taste buds and love it even more since I learned that oily fishes are rich in omega-3 oil. But, some people are worried of contamination of fishes with toxic chemicals because of some illegal dumping of toxic materials into the seas thus they prefer to eat animal meat as their source of protein and could not avail the tremendous benefits of fish oil from oily fishes.
Thanks to fish oil manufacturing companies, because of them it is not necessary for us to eat oily fishes just to avail the health benefits of fish oil. Not just that, they make sure that fish oils they produce are of good quality and free from any possible contaminants from the ocean where oily fishes resides. Fish oil supplements are usually blended with vitamin E. Aside from being a powerful antioxidant, vitamin E prevents fish oil to become rancid.
The two components of omega-3 in fish oil, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), provides notable health benefits. Aside from it could fill in nutritional gap, regular consumption of fish oil could lower cholesterol level, lower blood pressure, it improves cardiovascular health so as the liver. It could also help people who are suffering from asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), multiple sclerosis and cancer. Studies also showed that it could help those who are suffering from depression, bipolar disorder and ADHD.
We have no excuse for not availing the awesome health benefits of omega-3 from fish oil now. Whether you are like me who loves to eat oily fishes or not because there are fish oil supplements that are available now in the market.
