Let Us Talk About Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy
Have you heard about bioidentical hormone replacement therapy? If we talk about hormone replacement therapy people usually think immediately of taking pads of birth control pills for a year or more. Did you know that cream you use with hydrocortisone content when you have rashes is another good example of hormone therapy too? But, birth control pills and hydrocortisone hormones are synthetic hormones, not a ‘bioidentical’ one. As we all know, synthetic medications has side effects compared to natural ones.
Bioidentical hormones are type of hormones that are created in the laboratory like synthetic hormones but its composition is the same as the hormones produced naturally by the body. What are the natural hormones I am referring to? Estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and thyroid hormones are some of the hormones produced naturally by the body. Aside from same replica with natural hormones and producing same effect as natural hormones on the body, bioidentical hormones estrogen and testosterone has another great advantage. Research showed that these two bioidentical hormones has good impact against osteoporosis and prostate cancer.
Some people experience a “mid-life crisis” on their 40s and 50s due to menopausal period in females and andropause (male menopause) in males. They experience physical and emotional changes due to change of level of hormones on their bodies. But, did you know that aside from age lifestyle matters a lot too when we talk about hormonal balance? No wonder why there are young people on their mid-20s to 30s who experience hormonal imbalance due to high stress level they face almost everyday, wrong diet, no sleep pattern, lack of exercise, and enjoy some vices that are harmful to health.
Any medications regardless how effective it is, if you have wrong lifestyle will not be that effective. So, better practice healthy lifestyle not just to stimulate hormonal balance during bioidentical hormone replacement therapy but for good health in general. Try to nourish your body with at least 5 servings of various fruits a day; take in lots of raw and half cooked vegetable; have time for exercise; right sleep pattern; research for natural ways to reduce stress and shun yourself from bad habits that are harmful to the body.
