Upcoming 80th Birthday Celebration

My  grandmother’s birthday is fast approaching and all of us are excited to celebrate the said occasion. It will be her 80th birthday. Not all people has a chance to reach such age with a body that is as healthy as 60 years old so we are very happy for my grandmother. We will celebrate my grandmother’s birthday here in our humble home and we plan to make it memorable not just for the celebrant but to all the relatives and friends of my grandmother who will be celebrating with us that day.

I suggested that we make it more personalized by using personalized platter instead of the usual dinner plates to make the occasion more colorful. My younger sister who is in charge of the invitation said that she will use personalized ink stamps on the invitation to make it more unique. We are planning to have a program that everybody could participate and appreciate the said event so that everybody will enjoy and remember the said event.

As early as now my mom already bought a gift for my grandma, a bath wrap. Wow! It’s so nice. Pink in color, the favorite color of my grandma. I could picture her out on my mind. Definitely, with the said bath wrap she will feel and look much more younger that her age. I wonder now what is the best gift I could give to her. I want it to be something that she will use almost everyday too that will make her feel young, like the pink bath wrap.

Occasions like this is one way that our family and relatives could gather together. Since my grandmother is the oldest person in our clan, we usually make her birthday a time for our reunion as well. And, this year will be much more special because it is her 80th birthday. All of us are hoping that my grandmother will celebrate more birthdays to come with a good health.

Coming Back Home

My cousin will be back this February. He works overseas and spend time with his family every after one whole year working at the ship. I am pretty sure that he is now excited to be back home. Aside from his family to come back for his vacation, he wants to realize his dream house for his family too.

Definitely, they will go to different places again for their bonding like they’ve done on his last vacation. But they need an rv repair first for their car to make sure that it is on good condition while the whole family is on board. He will definitely enjoy his vacation this time because his 2years old daughter can now speak and interact properly and not just baby talk.

I know that it is not that emotionally easy for him to be away from his family to earn some living because kids does not just need financial support but care and guidance of a father too. Text messages, daily calls and chat during weekends is not enough to show how he love his kids and his wife. He’ll definitely try to compensate all the lacking factors during his vacations.

The Most Effective Method In Relieving Pain For Newborn Children

What is the most effective method in relieving pain for newborn children undergoing phlebotomy or any other medical procedure? That is what we will be talking today. As Medical Technologist, pain management during blood sampling is our major goal during phlebotomy (taking blood sample for laboratory examination/s) especially on newborn children. Some of the physiological effects of pain are changes in blood pressure and temperature, abnormal respiration, tachycardia, hypoxemia, prolonged catabolism and release of hormones such as cortisol, cathecolamines and endorphins.

I appreciate the prospective study reported in Pediatrics on their November issue. Researchers tried to find the most effective way of pain management during blood sampling for newborn screening procedure. And what did they found out? Feeding the child either breast feeding or bottle feeding is the most effective method of relieving pain during phlebotomy. Such idea of relieving pain is not new and is very much practical, right?

It may not possible to totally eradicate pain during blood collection procedure but the goal of reducing the pain to its lower level helps a lot not just to the newborn child but to the phlebotomist and the mother or caretaker of the child too. For some medical procedures that may cause much more pain to the newborn child, some doctors gives pharmacological agents commonly used in the ICN (Intensive Care Nursery) to reduce or prevent pain.

Simple Gift Ideas for Christmas Season

You want to know some simple gift ideas that could make you Christmas season more memorable? Tea and Christmas biscuits, who will not love such combination for Christmas season? Then add some Christmas candy on the list, definitely kids and adult alike would love such treat. Christmas candy and biscuits makes Christmas season much more colorful and sweet. And, of course it will not be complete without a tea.

Speaking of tea, cute tea sets and tea accessories placed on Christmas tea gift baskets or simply tea pots are great gift idea for this coming Christmas season too (hope I’ll receive one this coming season from a friend).

Christmas candy and biscuits excites my niece to celebrate Christmas season. The presence of colorful Christmas candy canes, sticks and lollipop of various colors, and biscuits of different shapes (some baked by her mom) at their house and have some of it as an exchanging gift with her friends makes the season more memorable for her. Christmas season is indeed for kids. It is not necessary for you to buy expensive gifts for them to be happy.

Whatever material things that could make Christmas season memorable will be useless unless you celebrate the season with a reason that you give thanks to God that He gave His only begotten Son for us to be saved. Giving thanks to God by giving something to loved ones and the needy is really a great way to celebrate the season.

Simple Approach to Help Child Learn to Sing A Song

It is so easy to teach child sing a song. Children has natural feelings for music. They can reveal emotions like joy and anger as they move to beat when you you play music to them. This activity will give a great bonding time to parent or parents and the child.

I have a two-year-old niece who is so fond of me. Thus, I learn a simple approach to help child learn to sing a song. First, sing a song at least thrice so that the child will know how it sounds. Then, say the words clearly without a song and let the child repeat those words after you. Third, sing the song by lines while letting the child sing each line after you with your help. If the child could follow you, try the whole song together.

Singing could help child pronounce words correctly instead of talking to you with baby talk. My niece is so talkative but, she can’t fully express all the things she want to say for now because she still cling to baby talk. We are happy that she really try her best to speak words correctly.
