A Sign of Maturity

Kids are excited for Christmas day because they expect to receive lots of gifts from family and friends. But, Leighly, a daughter of my friend, is more excited of her first communion. In fact, I received a first communion invitation from her last weekend. I am one of her Godparents on her baptism day and she said that she will really appreciate if I witness her first communion too.

It is really a great blessing for my friend to have a child that is God fearing and lovable as her. As for Leighly,  her first communion is a sign of maturity. That, she need to be more mature not just spiritually but on views in life too. She said she is now starting to live in reality of life by taking time to learn from her daily experiences. She said that this Christmas season is more meaningful to her because next week she will be accepting the fact of God’s love to mankind by giving His only Son to die on the cross for us to be free through her first communion.

She made me  ask myself if I’ve really grown spiritually. As  we all know, lots of people though they are on their ripe age are still like babies on their religious faith. That realization triggered by her is the best early gift I received this Christmas season. Have I really grown?
