Too Much Concern About Grades
Too much concern of students about their grades could create stress. I asked some high school students what worry them most, most of them answered their “grades”. I cannot blame them why they worry about it too much because with it they could either receive praises from their parents or a long sermon because of low or failing grades. Grades give parents the idea of how their kids are doing in school.
Poor students usually blame their poor performances on other sources such as prejudiced teacher, unfair test questions and bad weather. They could not admit that the usual reason for bad grades is laziness. It is not new to us that many students manage to get passing grades through guessing what is the right answer, cramming or even cheating. How could poor students develop their thinking ability if they just do like that?
On the other hand, good students take responsibility of their learning. They highly accept that good grades depends on them, on how hard they study and apply what they learn and not on the factors beyond their control. They set goals and organize their time to study.
How about your school kids? Hope you will find time to guide your kids on their studies.
