How to Deal With Tired Eyes

Who does not suffer from tired eyes? What you usually do when your eyes feel tired? Our eyes get tired from daily activities we do like paper works, watching TV, facing the computer monitor for long hours and other activities. On my work, it is much more tiresome for the eyes, most of my time are spend looking under the microscope. Intense lighting are needed to view the microscopic organisms, blood cells and urine sediments. Thus, it is much wiser if I have some ways to deal with tired eyes to do my job well until the very last minute of my duty. Here are my simple tips on dealing with tired eyes:

Do not forget to blink your eyes as you usually do while you are on relaxed situation. Many people when at intense situations or on situation that really need their attention forgot to blink their eyes as much as they do when they are on their relaxed state. It may sound funny  but it is true. Then, by the time when you feel that your eyes feel tired, look around, up and into the distance, this will help your eye muscles to relax.

Green color is eye friendly, I am referring to the green shade that is of same color as the leaves. If small green plant is not allowed in your workplace, why not bring with you a laminated green paper half a size of short bond paper to glance on every now and then? It may sound funny again but it really works with my tired eyes.

Another simple tip to deal with tired eyes is – warm your hands by rubbing it together. Then gently position your palms over your closed eyes. Hold it for three minutes while you are doing a deep breathing. Do this two to three times every time you feel your eyes get tired.

My next tip in dealing with tired eyes is a sort of funny act but effective. My colleagues laugh at me  the first time they saw me doing this but eventually most of them practice it now. On my locker, you can find 2 drinking glasses, 5 spoons and a single fork, why? Because the four spoons and a glass are for my eyes. During lunch break, I chill the four spoons in iced water, then place one over each eye. You need four spoons because when two spoons become warm you need to switch them with the other two chilling in a glass of water.

If you have other tips on dealing with tired eyes, feel free to write it on comment section.

    Thanks for the tips.
The last method sounds very interesting. I have heard about using the similar approach to reduce eye puffiness. Do you find your method has that effect as well?

I love these tips…spending hours in front of the computer even with my magnetic shield tacked on my shirt still leaves my eyes burning tired.

I am definitely going to try your tips…not sure about the spoons though…I already use ice for that and it helps :)
